ZERO Technique

A particular form of “sensory stimulation” that brings an immediate release of myofascial tension and, as a result, helps reduce muscular pain.

Where certain rules are respected, effectiveness reaches 100%. The release of fascial tension, and with it a reduction in muscular pain, happens quickly, in the order of a few seconds, though in some cases 50-70 seconds may be needed. From the checks carried out, the technique also proves effective in states of chronic muscular tension. The effect can be permanent, but in some cases it may recur over time; the essential requirement is that the person co-operates.

Foundations

The basis of the ZERO Technique

The ZERO Technique consists of a “neuromodulation of pain through the activation of peripheral Gate Control mechanisms combined with descending central inhibition”. The technique takes its cue from the relationship between muscular pain (or an alteration of its function and structure) and a certain kind of lived experience. Non-invasive and painless, through a double “sensory stimulation” it rapidly releases tension in the muscle and/or the fascia and consequently reduces muscular pain. Given the distinctive nature of the technique and how quickly it is performed, it can be integrated into any bodywork technique already practised. The essential requirement is that the person co-operates. With practice it is possible to reach a self-induction of the technique (self-treatment).

Clarifications

It should be stressed that this technique:

  • does NOT draw on Traditional Chinese Medicine: no meridians of the Chinese medical tradition (TCM) are used, and no acupuncture points or “tsubo”
  • does NOT use the breath
  • does NOT use energetic or vibrational techniques
  • does NOT apply manipulation (Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Rolfing, …)
  • does NOT use movement-based bodywork (Yoga, Feldenkrais, …)
  • does NOT use Applied Kinesiology or muscle testing
  • does NOT use oils or creams
  • does NOT use Trigger Points
  • does NOT use instruments
  • does NOT use medication
  • does NOT use natural remedies
  • does NOT use hypnotic techniques
  • is NOT painful
  • is NOT invasive

The ZERO Technique … is NOT a technique belonging to Craniosacral Technique
